Riding Lessons

W.I.S.H. offers Equestrian Riding Lessons for all ages and abilities.  Every Lesson Session is dedicated to sharing the love of horses and exploring horsemanship skills in a fun and safe setting. W.I.S.H. can help you achieve your goals for pleasure and competition. 

Beginner

Beginner Horseback Riding lessons focus on basic horsemanship skills. Students learn the fundamentals of good grooming practices, safe tacking skills, natural horse communication and proper horseback riding position. Each lessons is designed with your individual goals as the top priority. Cultivating basic skills forge respectful bonds. Each Lesson is dedicated to developing the students “in Hand” skills as well as “Under Saddle” time.

Novice

Novice Horseback Riding Lessons are for the riders who have achieved their W.I.S.H. of basic Horsemanship and are ready to progress to a more in-depth equestrian experience as your knowledge and understanding of how the body position affects the horses performance. At this level the rider is capable of grooming, leading, and tacking a horse with limited supervision, therefore they are expected to be mounted and ready at lesson time. The Novice Rider’s primary focus is developing their independent Walk – Trot – Canter while maintaining their correct diagonals and leads and using proper aids for communicating with the horse.

Intermediate

Novice Horseback Riding Lessons are for the riders who have achieved their W.I.S.H. of basic Horsemanship and are ready to progress to a more in-depth equestrian experience as your knowledge and understanding of how the body position affects the horses performance. Advanced

Advanced Horseback Riding Lessons are designed to incorporate the use of your body more effectively to aid the horse to enhanced performance. Through time, patients and consistency the advanced riding student incorporates successful horsemanship with physical and mental conditioning of horse and rider.

Homeschool
Horsemanship Program

Homeschool Horsemanship is a hands on class that develops safe and fun relationships between horse and handler. This class promotes a well rounded learning experience. Each participant will be encouraged to strive to their best. Equestrian WISH requires participants to pay attention and follow directions. Horseback riding is a part of Horsemanship, but it is not the primary focus in this class. Homeschool Horsemanship teaches many aspects of true horsemanship, including equine psychology and communication, anatomy, health and over all care of horse, tack and farm.

Homeschool Horsemanship 101

Homeschool Horsemanship 101 is a 7 week introductory course that meets once a week for one hour. The cost per student is $100, regardless of how many classes are attended. The course is prepaid.

Homeschool Horsemanship 143

Homeschool Horsemanship 143 is a school year course that meets once a week for one hour. The cost is $75 a month, regardless of how many classes are attended. Class begins in September and continues through the end of May. This is the beginners class. Open to riders 5 and up.

Homeschool Horsemanship 203

Homeschool Horsemanship 203 is a year long course that meets once a week for one hour. This is a more advanced class for those that have completed 143 or can easily trot a horse off the lunge line. This class offer more riding time as these students are all capable of walk - trotting on their own. Cost is $115 a month, regardless of how many classes are attended. Class begins in September and finishes the end of May.

Homeschool Horsemanship 244

Homeschool Horsemanship 244 meets once a week for two hours. This class is to encourage and equip youth with work related skills focused on farm responsibilities and tasks. Approximately one hour will be a 203 class. This is an excellent opportunity for youth to become ready for volunteer opportunities around the farm. Cost is $115 a month.
